Arkansas Game and Fish Commission
New Regional Office – Fort Smith, AR

This new Regional Office is a combination of Office facilities and a Shop. The Office is designed with insulated concrete forms being used at the exterior walls. This type of wall construction, in combination with spray applied polyiso insulation to the bottom of the roof deck, leads to a very energy efficient building. The Office has bullet resistant walls at the Public Entry/Lobby, a vault that can also be used as a Tornado Shelter, a meeting room for up to 30 people, secure entries, polished river rock aggregate concrete floors, and attic storage space. The use of stones and wood appearance metal siding helps the building blend with its forest-like setting. The Shop building is one half enclosed rooms and one half covered, open storage for equipment such as a front-end loader and trailers.

Both buildings can be “powered” by an emergency generator, and the site is enclosed with security fencing with access controlled gates. The site was disturbed as little as possible during construction and all new landscaping materials are drought resistant, native Arkansas plants and grasses. The site is intended to have a very natural, undisturbed forest appearance.
